The objective of this opportunity is to assist the company to develop its response to the sustainability challenges that the industry faces and also to equip the company with appropriate tools so that employees can have informed discussions on this topic.

Responsibilities

Outputs and Key Tasks

Outputs

  1. Support Group Sustainability Manager with day to day running of the department.

  2. Research and identify ways in which to improve environmental reporting and benchmark (against competitors and customers).

  3. Collect and analyse information for group reporting requirements with the support of the sustainability manager.

  4. Maintain and develop tools used by the Group for sustainability support.

  5. Develop industry knowledge to be able to support business with general environmental enquiries.

Key Tasks

Group reporting requirements:

  1. Develop reporting requirements e.g. research and introduce scope 3 emissions reporting.

  2. Analyse previous reporting and identify areas for improvement.

  3. Co-ordinate collection of information and data for annual reporting.

  4. Benchmark reporting against competitors and customers.

  5. Assist with analysis of group environmental data.

Development of sustainability support tools

  1. Develop and maintain group sustainability intranet.

  2. Develop and maintain sustainability toolkit on isalestoolkit.

  3. Develop and maintain group sustainability presentation.

  4. Produce and send out monthly group sustainability update.

Product carbon foot printing capability

  1. Develop knowledge on product carbon footprinting and provide support to sites when requested.

Assist with other areas as required by the Sustainability Manager.

  1. Responding to general environmental enquiries.

  2. Attending external meetings.

General

  1. To comply with all company rules, regulations and procedures at all times and promote good working practices throughout the workforce.

  2. To carry out all reasonable requests from management.

  3. At all times, to act in the best interests of the Company and conduct yourself accordingly.

Personal Specification

Essential

  1. Candidates must be a graduate.

  2. Good oral and written communication skills with ability to communicate clearly and effectively to a variety of audiences in writing, presentations and face-to-face.

  3. Ability to research and collate material to produce high-quality written information for reporting and awareness raising purposes.

  4. Good interpersonal skills and the ability to build and maintain effective working relationships with a wide range of stakeholders.

  5. Team worker with the ability to work independently; self-motivated.

  6. An organised worker with the ability to work across a broad range of subject areas and manage their workload appropriately.

  7. Numerate, with the ability to organise, manage and analyse data and present findings in different formats suitable for a range of audiences.

  8. A full driving licence and with access to a car that you are willing to insure for business purposes.

Desirable

  1. Experience in a sustainability/environmental role.

  2. Some experience of working within a manufacturing or industry environment.

Position Details

Employer: RPC Group Plc

Salary (per annum pro rata): £21,000 - £25,000 dependant on experience

Hours/Week: 36.25

Work outside normal hours: Infrequent and mainly related to travel to RPC sites
