Background

AB Agri is a unique community of leading agricultural businesses with a vision to improve the sustainability of food production. It has an exciting growth plan to double the size of the business within the next 5 years and substantially broaden its geographic footprint.

As part of a FTSE 25 business, Associated British Foods plc, it is already a highly responsible business, but to support its vision it is seeking to better evidence and grow its reputation to ensure that it can support its farmer and producer customers as demands on their businesses evolve.

Formula 24 (F24) is the AB Agri ‘recipe for responsible agriculture.’ It is a 10 year programme that comprises three pillars and six aspirations and is steered by a cross functional business group. This role reports to the AB Agri Group Risk Manager and exists to support the development of our F24 ethical sourcing programme, one of the six aspirations, and to work with our divisional raw material teams to increase visibility of issues within their supply chains.

Objective

The objective of the role is to move us forward in our understanding of potential issues within our raw material supply chains and in designing activities to mitigate the risks they pose. Success will be evidenced by reporting and evidencing of progress to our Formula 24 Board.

Responsibilities

  1. 100% of raw material (RM) suppliers to have signed our supplier code of conduct

  2. Signed documents to be uploaded into our assurance system Authenticate.

  3. Risk evaluation of RM suppliers to have been updated using Verisk Maplecroft risk metrics

  4. Evaluation (RAG) status to be flagged within Authenticate

  5. Plan exists to move all reds to a minimum of amber

  6. Progress report developed and routinely produced to evidence progress

Key Tasks

  1. Develop efficient mechanism to manage collection of signed supplier codes.

  2. Design and develop dashboard approach within Authenticate software to report status of suppliers.

  3. Research and refine existing risk assessment using Verisk Maplecroft metrics to update current risk status of both materials and suppliers.

  4. Develop engaging and accurate reporting to evidence progress.

  5. Engage with suppliers to encourage them to share information to reduce our perceived risk status.

Essential

  1. A high level of computer literacy with experience in creating and managing data an advantage.

  2. Good communication skills both written and verbal.

  3. Team player.

  4. Organisational skills with proven ability to meet deadlines.

  5. Able to report accurately evidencing a high level of attention to detail and evaluate current and potential issues in the supply chain .

  6. Experience of engaging with a range of stakeholders to complete a project.

  7. Open and collaborative working style – happy to assist others and ask for help as needed.

Desirable

  1. Some knowledge of specific sustainability issues in both UK and global agri food production.

  2. Interest in ethical sourcing / agri food production.

  3. Graduate in a sustainability-related subject.

  4. Exposure to supplier ethics procedures and mechanisms.

  5. Knowledge of risk metrics and their importance.

  6. The ability to tailor reporting to a specific audience.

Salary (per annum pro rata): £23,000
