Job Description

Background

Society for the Environment (SocEnv) is incorporated by Royal Charter (2004) to license UK professional bodies to award their members with the qualification "Chartered Environmentalist" (CEnv) and Registered Environmental Technician (REnvTech). There are currently 24 license professional partners through which 7,000 individuals have registered as Chartered Environmentalists (within the UK and across 60+ countries worldwide).

The 24 Licensed Bodies have about 500,000 individual members from whom they may draw future potential Chartered Environmentalists and Environmental Technicians who qualify to join the professional registers. The market for the Society's qualifications could draw from a potential international market and there are ambitious growth plans to deliver 10,000 individuals on the CEnv register by 2019. There is plenty of scope for long-term growth for this young organisation.

They work with their licensed bodies to deliver events and publications that showcase the work of its member bodies.

The company is also developing its policy voice - it aspires to provide key environmental insight on environmental challenges faced by the wide array of sectors it represents. This is achieved by facilitating policy collaboration between its licensed partners and external organisations.

Objective

Delivery of targeted marketing communication activities directly and through collaboration with SocEnv’s key partners that increase awareness of the organisation and supports growth in registrations

They will have the opportunity to develop and execute marketing plans that directly align with the strategic aims of the organisations. They will also work across partnership of 24 professional bodies to amplify our messaging. The individual will also work closely with our policy lead to ensure alignment of messaging and will cover the full marketing mix for the society including reviewing our product portfolio.

Responsibilities

Outputs

  1. Develop and delivery of targeted marketing campaigns for the Society.

  2. Effective Network on marketing teams across the Society’s 24 Professional Body Partners.

  3. Lively and well used website and social media, marketing collateral and newsletter.

  4. Relevant insight and market research summaries.

Key Tasks

  1. Manage, review and update information on the SocEnv website and blog.

  2. Maintain the marketing toolkit and work with SocEnv’s partners to collectively promote our registrations.

  3. Collate enquiries from media, individuals and other organisations.

  4. Design, prepare and produce marketing collateral including and not limited to brochures, handouts, direct mailings, promotional videos, photographs, films and multi-media programmes.

  5. Manage and update information and engage with users on SocEnv social media platforms including email campaigns.

  6. Source and manage speaking, exhibition and sponsorship opportunities at events which meet our target audience.

  7. Respond to market research undertaken by the organisation and revise communication plans accordingly.

  8. Write and edit the in-house news, articles and content for the annual report where required.

  9. Assist with event organisation and attend events to represent the organisation in person.

  10. Ensure consistent communication of the image and brand values

  11. Monitor and report on trends and customer activity.

Personal Specification

Essential

  1. Educated to degree level or equivalent in a relevant subject.

  2. Experience of working under demanding time pressures and deadlines.

  3. Demonstration of an ability to confidently work and communicate across all levels.

  4. Experience of working with a wide range of key partners and building effective relationships.

  5. Experience of delivering marketing campaigns for the business.

  6. Competent ICT skills.

  7. Social media experience and evidence of managing digital campaigns.

  8. Excellent written and verbal communications skills.

  9. Team player with ability to work well as part of a small team.

Desirable

  1. Extensive previous experience of working in a marketing role.

  2. Keen interest and appreciation for environmental sustainability.

  3. Web development and CRM experience.

Salary (per annum pro rata): £25,000 per annum
