Doing Business & Doing Good

November 8, 2017

1 online summit, 7 key areas, 29 interviews

On the 4th September the first interview from the Doing Business & Doing Good (DBDG) summit landed in inboxes. This was an interesting opportunity to listen to Paul Polman, CEO of Unilever.

Sophie Wisbrun, the summit leader, asked questions covering a number of sustainability topics including how to use your business as a force for good, how Unilever builds and preserves its long term sustainable growth model as well as questions around Unilever’s Sustainable Living Plan.

Paul Polman’s concluding advice for business leaders included the African proverb: “If you want to go fast go alone, if you want to go far go together”, and that “we all have 24 hours that are the same and we choose how we live it”.

This interview has been followed daily by a variety of speakers in various businesses engaging with sustainability; from start-ups to charities to global leaders, from personal actions to business scale initiatives. There is a real diversity between topics, some of my personal favourites were the plantable pencils from Sprout, Fairphone; a group that has moved from awareness to action and created a modular phone and Mud jeans; the first Circular Fashion Brand in the world!

Now that the release of all interviews is complete you are presented with the opportunity to catch up with videos missed but also cherry pick videos from categories you would value hearing about:

·         Zero waste & circular economy

·         Strategy

·         Sustainable living

·         Shared value creation

·         Sustainable Education

·         Social Enterprise

·         Purpose

The doingbusinessdoinggood Facebook page will continue to host discussions after.
