Change Agents UK served Fairtrade hot drinks and home-made cakes to commuters braving the snow.
On Wednesday 28th February 2018 Change Agents UK opened up their meeting room on Platform 1 of Oakham Station to serve hot drinks and home-made cakes. We were able to offer a warm welcome at the station as rail passengers and locals came in from the snow.
The pop-up coffee shop ran in support of the Fairtrade Fortnight 2018 campaign ‘Come On In’ which is running until Sunday 11th March and aims to bring about positive, sustainable change for millions of farmers and workers in developing countries. Change Agents UK, a charity and not-for-profit organisation, would like to thank the local community for their support in raising £61.10 for Fairtrade.
Key elements of Fairtrade are better prices, decent working conditions and fair terms of trade for farmers and workers. Fairtrade has been shown to increase their standards of living and reduce risk and vulnerability. Fairtrade standards also protect and improve the environment. Extra income from Fairtrade means farmers can invest in sound agricultural practices – giving better protection for farmers and better products for us.
