Sustainability Projects & Education Officer
Hello! I’m Lucy, and I’m passionate about creating a future where people live in harmony with the rest of nature. I joined Change Agents in January 2021 to assist with a wide range of sustainability projects and educational workshops.
My love for nature began at a young age – climbing trees and haystacks, exploring the ocean with my brother and befriending every animal I came across. When I was 18, I worked in a bakery to save up to volunteer on a wildlife conservation reserve in South Africa – an experience I still treasure. My first degree was in the arts: I trained at Rambert School and spent several years performing as a dancer and actress.
I took time out from the theatre to return to Africa, travelling and volunteering in Malawi, Zambia, South Africa and Lesotho: lands rich with colour, vibrant cultures and exotic wildlife, but also experiencing deep challenges. As I learned more about social and environmental crises, I felt the call to ‘do something’… so I enrolled at the Centre for Alternative Technology to do an MSc in sustainability!
Since then, I’ve been working on diverse projects, including developing the Youth Hostel Association’s sustainability strategy, presenting research at the International Nature Connections Conference, and bringing together the arts and sustainability worlds. I believe strongly in the value of community initiatives, having co-founded an Incredible Edible project in my local town. I’m delighted to be working with Change Agents to bring about even more positive, valuable change that improves wellbeing for all.
