Sustainability Education and Engagement Officer

I joined Change Agents UK at the start of 2024. My interest in sustainability came from studies at the University of Birmingham, firstly in my BA Philosophy degree where I began my studies of the ethics and politics of climate change. Following this I completed the Teach First Programme and trained to be a Geography teacher, but I felt I was not making the impact I wanted to and while enjoyable, I (weirdly!) missed studying. This motivated me to return to university where I studied MSc Global Ethics and Justice. I wrote my dissertation on 'What responsibilities individuals have in tackling the climate crisis'. The focus was on the need for individuals to not only reduce their personal emissions, but also how they can delegate effectively to governments to push for more robust climate polices on the collective level.

This study fulfilled my values, but I was eager for an opportunity to put what I had researched into practice. Joining Change Agents as a Sustainability Education and Engagement Officer gives me a brilliant opportunity to combine my experience as an educator with my knowledge and passion for sustainability. I am excited to learn more about working in sustainability and educating others about how they can make a difference.

When I’m not working you can usually find me hiking, kayaking down a rapid or playing my tuba in a brass band!
