Three Simple Steps to...
Getting Certified
STEP 1:
Before you attend our training session, you'll be sent 2 hours of self-study material to be completed ahead of the session.
STEP 2:
All of our training sessions include 6-7 hours of live training. This can be done over one day or split across multiple days. Our course is highly interactive, where you can collaborate and network with the other participants: this definitely isn't death by PowerPoint!
STEP 3:
Following the training, you will submit a short Evidence Form and commit to two new actions to become certified by the Carbon Literacy Project. Our experienced Education Team will support you through the whole process.
We offer our courses publicly and to private groups in-person or online. Find out more here.
FAQs
1/
How long is the course?
Any accredited Carbon Literacy course must contain eight hours of content. We run our course as two half day live training sessions alongside around two hours of independent study. After the live training, you must submit an Evidence Form to us which we estimate to take around 30 minutes. Some time is given to this in the live session.
2/
How many people are on each course?
Our courses can vary in size but you will be joined by 5-15 other participants during your Carbon Literacy course.
3/
How is the training delivered?
The live sessions are delivered online via Zoom, typically split over two half-days. We also deliver private courses directly to groups, both online and in-person. If you’re interested in this, please check out our Carbon Literacy for Organisations webpage. Carbon Literacy is a very interactive course. We will have multiple breakout room discussions and activities in addition to full group quizzes and conversations. Due to this, you must have a working microphone and camera on your computer to engage. If you have any accessibility concerns about engaging positively and effectively, please reach out to us.
4/
Will I get a certificate and does it costs extra?
If you attend the full course and submit an Evidence Form which passes the Carbon Literacy Project’s assessment criteria, then yes, you will receive a certificate! This course is accredited by the Carbon Literacy Project, and your certificate is included in the price. If you do not pass the assessment, there will be a £25 charge to re-submit. Don’t worry – we will help you the whole way through which means over 98% of our participants pass first time round!
5/
How is it assessed and do we get help with the assessment?
The assessment to get certified by The Carbon Literacy Project is the completion of a short ‘Evidence Form’ which we recommend takes around 30 minutes to complete. You will have one week to submit your pledge after the course ends, though we can be flexible to account for personal circumstances. There are three parts: Answer: what do we need to do as a society to achieve zero carbon emissions? Commitment to an individual emissions-saving pledge. Commitment to an emissions-saving pledge which involves other people. We will support you through the process to ensure you pass. On the very rare change you fail the first-time round, you will get feedback from the CLP and be able to re-submit with a charge of £25+VAT charge. The CLP may request a short call with you to discuss your pledges. We support our participants the whole way – that’s why over 95% of our participants to date have passed first time round!
6/
If I attend this course, can I then deliver Carbon Literacy myself?
Yes – once you are certified as Carbon Literate you are eligible to become a Carbon Literate Facilitator and deliver Carbon Literacy via your own course or a public toolkit.
7/
Can I book for a group of people?
Yes. We can deliver the Carbon Literacy to groups of up to 20 at a time and as small as 5. It's a high impact option for team development. If you'd like to explore this, please email contact@changeagents.org.uk and a member of the team will be in touch.
